Without loyal engaged fans your music, message, and likely everything you worked for will go unnoticed. Once you accept this as a fact you can start using it to your advantage. The main aspect you should be conscious of when executing these tips is your fan base demographics and target audience.
1. Fan-Based Content
Creating content that is based on your fans creates fans that feel connected and will stay for life and your content is much more likely to be liked, commented on, and shared.
Think about when you first meet a new person, the beginning of the conversation always consists of questions trying to get to know each other better. This is similar to how you should interact with your fans so they get to know who you are and what you represent.
Another way you can make fan-based content is by making a post or story asking them
"What's the best song for (Choose situation)" Create a playlist around that on your SoundCloud or Spotify, then share the link with your fans in groups and on forums.
Shout Out to the fans whose suggestions you took.
Share all fan-created content, especially when you are still relatively small and have less than 250K followers.
This will help show your fan's social proof as well as increase the connection with your loyal fans.
Giveaways are also another way to increase your value as well as demand and audience, learn what your fans are interested in, and increase traffic to merchandise. Create a CTA (more info under #3) and have fans tag 3 people and put your post on their story.
2 Memes.
Using memes is a great way to gain traction around a song and use that momentum to start your career. They have proven effective many times starting all the way back in 2011 when "Its Friday" was released and continued to put songs in the forefront like "Bad & Boujee and the most recent "Old Town Road"
Reach out to accounts and people on Instagram that post dancing snippets with your track playing. Read our article on Compounding and educate yourself on how to gain consistent connections daily.
3. Clear CTA
A CTA stands for "Call To Action" and it's a statement that tells someone in your case your fans, what to do next. Often artists post a flyer or event and fail to tell their fans exactly what to do next which in turn decreases your engagement.
Some simple call to actions are:
"Tell me what you think below"
"Comment your favorite track of mine below"
Without a specific and direct CTA, most viewers will just read your caption and respond in their heads. There are a lot of distractions in our lives and sometimes instructions need to be spelled out for us to focus and move on seamlessly onto the next step.
