Many artists struggle to get the placements and reach that they deserve. Often the main problem is that most artists don't even know where to start. The majority of artists think to promote their music on sites like Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and Billboard. However, for most artists, that's the method that won't be obtainable without a professional publisher, which isn't cheap. Also don't think that I'm saying not to try to get covered on larger blogs, I'm just saying don't depend on it. Most smaller blogs are looking for amazing content to post and find and are more willing to promote local artists. It's more likely to build a genuine relationship with a smaller blog as well and that relationship can bring you both a long way.
